The rise of the STAYCATION

Since the sharp decline in the economic climate people have been cutting back on discretionary spending. One of the first cuts in a household budget has been holidays. We don’t mind though as it means this summer more Brits than ever are predicted to choose to holiday on home soil over going abroad.

With a choice of beautiful coastlines, stunning countryside and exciting cities to explore it’s not surprising that we’re staying at home. These sorts of holidays have been labelled staycations.

 

With a staycation you can just hop in your car and get to wherever you want to go without a pricey airline ticket, worrying about the weight of your luggage or huge airport delays. (Unless your partner takes as long as mine to get ready!)

 

Staycations are also popular for those short on time, if you have just a few days to spare why waste time on travelling when you have some of the most amazing destinations right on your door step.

 

The rise of the staycation is having a great effect on tourism in the Lake District, as staycationers name our idyllic location as one of their top holiday spots.

 

So if you’re one of the many planning a staycation this year, why not try The Lake District?
