We say it time and time again, but we really do sit in the most beautiful corner of England. When you come and visit us we want you to experience what the area has to its fullest, and driving isn't always the best option.


When you're stuck behind the wheel of a car you don't get to see everything around you. When you are trying to navigate around an unfamiliar area it can be quite stressful. So take our advice, put the map down, lock the sat nav away and experience the Lakes stress free....

Here are our top 3 ways to see The Lake District
Windermere Lake Cruise boat on Lake Windermere

Windermere Lake Cruises
When you come to the Lakes, its simply a must to go on the Lake. Windermere Lake Cruises offer this and so much more with cruises that last from 45 mins to 3 hrs. If you purchase a freedom ticket you can hop on and off as you please wandering round the stops at Lakeside, Ambleside and Bowness.

Open Top Bus
You can go on a tourist style open top bus ride in pretty much any city, but in the Lakes you take in breathtaking views and scenery. 'The Lakeland Experience' travels between Bowness-on-Windermere and Grasmere calling in at Ambleside. The bus stops at various attractions along the way such as, Brockhole, The Lake District National Park Visitor Centre, Rydal Mount and Dove Cottage. The bus also calls at Windermere railway station, so connections from trains are possible.

Mountain Goat
This private company offer a variety of guided sight seeing tours, or you can book a private tailor made tour. Imagine taking your someone special on a private chauffeur driven tour of the Lakes. Very romantic!

Many of our guests actually want to come and do nothing. Just have a weekend of sheer luxury and relaxation. Don't worry, we more than encourage that. Because of our great location by taking just 2 minute walk you can be at the shores of Lake Windermere then be sipping champagne in the comfort of your room moments later.
